Hugo and Dorothy Magnuson opened their first store in 1939. From the opening of that first store to today, Hugo's has been proud to serve our communities. You’re sure to find Hugo’s near you. Hugo's Family Marketplace is celebrating 80 Years as your hometown grocer. Hugo and Dorothy Magnuson opened their first grocery store in downtown Grand Forks in 1939. Since then, it has remained family owned and operated by Hugo, then Hugo's son Curt and now Hugo's granddaughter Kristi; growing to 10 locations in ND and MN and a new location returning to downtown in the same spot as Hugo's first store.
